Miami native producers Julio Mejia and Matt Toth, better known as GTA, have gained an unprecedented level of respect and notoriety in the dance and electronic world over the past few years as purveyors of “moombahton,” a fusion of reggaeton and electronic music. The power duo's versatility and unique sound were first recognized by Diplo, who then featured them on his 2012 Express Yourself EP and later signed them exclusively to his label Mad Decent. After teasing their fans for two years with a trap-infused ID, they finally said "FK IT" and released the filthy track to satisfy those trap enthusiasts who heard this song for the first time at Ultra Music Festival.
Kicking off with drum instrumentals and a subtle voice to lead into the rhythmic build up, GTA is about to bring the bounce from the festivals into your own home. The track consists of low tempo synths and a undeniably smooth drop which tends to get even dirtier throughout the track. Shifting into a high pitched drop and a wide array of instrumental sounds, GTA states they "wanted to bring back the ignorant club track mentality where random sounds seem to come out of nowhere, but add a fun aspect to the song.” Ignorant club mentality or not, the dynamic duo prove that we really have nothing on them when it comes to releasing banger after banger.
Get wonky with GTA at Marquee in Singapore on June 14.
