Glass Dove’s “Terrible Secrets” is an evocative statement on the political climate

Dejected and dreamy, Glass Dove releases the profound thought-provoking single entitled “Terrible Secrets”. With melancholy instrumentation and soaring wistful harmonies, the track is a narration of those in power who divide us to maintain their privilege and how our sense of lackadaisicalness gives voice to “terrible secrets”.

Before Josh Benus assumed his musical identity, the Nashville based indie rock artist found himself faced with some serious challenges. In 2012, an emergency surgery took a dangerous turn that left Benus in critical condition.  He encountered severe complications that led to an unexpectedly taxing recovery. After some agonizing months of healing, he taught himself how to sing again. Lucky to be alive, the next five years were filled with twists and turns. Benus's health, as well as relationships, would further deteriorate before the storm finally passed.

“After my experiences, I made a pact with myself,” he confides. “I decided there was no plan B — It became clear to me how quick this could all disappear, and that there was no better time than now, to seriously pursue my art.”

After a hiatus from music, Benus commenced writing. Approached by producer Owen Biddle [The Roots, John Legend] in early 2018, he then retreated to the Smoky Mountains for a week of intense writing and recording. Under the name Glass Dove, he released his debut single "Cigarette Sunset" featuring Liz Cooper to critical acclaim.

Glass Dove is known for his hauntingly hypnotic melodies, dark vintage synths and deep ethereal vocals. Leaving the previous turbulence behind, Benus moves towards new personal and musical adventures.  A prime example of rock-solid craftsmanship and free-spirited imagination, he brings listeners along for the enchanting ride as Glass Dove. Take a listen to his stunning dreamlike single “Terrible Secrets” out now.
