In celebration of their imprint Rawthentic's one year, Toronto heavyweights Carlo Lio and Nathan Barato release two house cuts in Ghetto Drums.
Title track "Ghetto Drums" kicks things off with low pitched vocals and spiralling synths, progressively building into a bass line both infectious and utterly groovy. The duo showcase their flair with structured percussions that flow in tandem with the deep vocal chops, giving way to a track that effortlessly embodies the frenetic beating of drums—with a house twist. On the other hand, "Strip Club" sees the duo utilize lush chord stabs in a more reposed beat, relying on modulated hi-hats for a raw dance experience.
Pairing up for the first time since inaugurating Rawthentic with Mainframe last year, the Canadian duo have enjoyed a successful year running the label with multiple releases, whilst continuing to release their own tracks on other well-known labels.
