British producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis has released his new collaborative single with Clairo. "Throwaway" is a starry single that uniquely captures what it's like to fall with someone and the corresponding fear that one's love is disposable.
Best known for his dance-oriented, electronic-based sound, Lewis' latest single is a more vulnerable, downtempo production than fans may be used to. However, it is eloquently framed with Clairo's sweet, yet powerful vocals. This computerized track serves as an electro-pop anthem many will find themselves relating to. Clairo is known as a lo-fi singer-songwriter, often associated with bedroom pop. On top of Lewis' trance-inducing beat, Clairo sings about the anxieties that often accompany falling in love.
"Clairo is one of my favorite artists to work with, and a good friend of mine," Lewis says on the making of the track. "'Throwaway' was written in LA one evening – we were both super tired and had some shit going on in our respective personal lives. We sat and talked for ages, and after that "Throwaway" flowed out in no time at all.”
The platonic chemistry between the two is evident. It's refreshing to see two artists collaborating so organically. Fans will appreciate not that, as well as the intimacy shared with listeners on this project.
Upon the release of his upcoming album, Dusk, Dark, Dawn, Lewis is scheduled to make a few festival appearances including at Coachella, Festival Vaiven, Liverpool International Music Festival, and Boardmasters Festival. He will also be performing with Jaden Smith in LA on April 16.
