We live in a time where social media allows artists to be as close and personal with their fans as they would like. LA-based singer/songwriter V.C.R, also known as vthemartian, is taking it a step further with her new video. Her new video for "Lilli Lotus" gives you a glimpse into her childhood in Memphis, Tennessee.
"Lilli Lotus" is a bass and percussion heavy track that gives you soulful funk vibes. V.C.R graces us with her raspy, soulful vocals that are reminiscent of Erykah Badu. With a title inspired by her niece, a video concept centered around family was no surprise.
The Saky directed visual is nostalgic and an ode to V.C.R's family. Throughout the video, we see V.C.R in LA busking and home video footage of her as a child, as well as footage of her family at various gatherings. It's safe to say music was a central part of her upbringing and runs in her blood.
Look for more new music from V.C.R soon, but until then enjoy her new visual for "Lilli Lotus". If you are in LA, catch V.C.R along with Jacque Hammond and Roman Norfleet at The Echo today, February 4.
