Vancouver's Pat Lok is known for blending sultry notes of R&B with house-laden disco music. After a dynamite 2018 that included his debut full-length on tastemaker dance label Kitsuné Musique, Lok is primed to take the new year by storm. On "From the Back," Lok teams up with LA's Party Pupils, who are no strangers to innuendo. With the help of Dances With White Girls, they concoct an infectious mix of frisky infatuation to inspire late night "after parties."

This thumping track came together through mutual admiration and a brief encounter on Twitter, Lok explains to Billboard, “I had been following Party Pupils on Twitter and saw they were talking about an A-Ha remix, so I reached out and sent them some piano ideas for it and that was how we connected. They’re based in LA so I went into the studio with Ryan one day and started playing out these chords, he put down some drums and very quickly we had a club jam! It very much captures the vibe and energy of our projects together.”

The result is two minutes and fifty seconds of pure club adrenaline full of funky oscillating synth lines, a heavy house beat, and a seductive hook. This is a must add for any future funk & nu-disco party playlist. Lok proves himself as one of the premiere R&Beats DJ/producers out there, and this collab with Party Pupils and Dances With White Girls is pure ecstasy. Obviously, they've hit a stride, in the midst of a co-headlining tour that kicked off earlier this month.
