We've been incessantly talking about the talent coming out of Australia's dance music scene for what feels like years now. Our conversation many times revolves around a group of artists who are either changing the game in electronic music – those like Flume – or paving an entirely new way for Australia's sound – with those like RÜFUS DU SOL. But there's a new artist on the scene, and Willaris. K has taken Australia by storm, gearing up to share his music with the rest of the world. For Willaris, he's had the luck of being a darling of Pete Tong and BBC Radio 1 with his previous releases, priming him to have maximum ears on his music as he goes forward. Such will surely happen with his latest, a double A-side EP eponymously named for its two tracks "Natural Selection" and "Cobaki Sky (Prequel)." Each takes on its own inspiration and its own sound, with "Cobaki Sky" taking notes from his home town of Tweed Heads, taking on natural elements and progressive melodies. "Natural Selection" is deeper in nature, but both tracks sound impressively new and bold. Together, they make a statement that's keeping our attention.
