Indie Swedish band The Perfect Mess caught our ears with their retrofitted alluring single titled "We Take Control".
Their musical style which they termed as Lo-Fi Hi-Fi may sound unorthodox on paper but aurally it makes perfect sense. Lead vocalist and guitarist Niklas Bohm knows his onions as he takes elements from lo-fi alternative pop-rock and modern day styles to deliver an engaging performance. The rich guitar arrangement alone is ennough to keep your attention but we need to acknnowledge the subtleness of the driving percussions by drummer Mikko Viitala. There is a whole lot of change in dynamics as the song progesses with the drums while Bohm's commanding vocals swirl around with its punchy intent. It is quite an experimental journey if you asked us.
The band recorded and released their first EP (Self-titled) in January 2015. Since then they have been working on their debut album “Magical Tragical”, which is due to be released in 2019. "We Take Control" is the sophomore sinngle off the aforementioned project.
