We recently got wind of this seasoned band Holy Pistola and it was only right to share with our readers their latest output. The 9-man group is made up of instrumentalists and vocalist who seamlessly blend a wide variety of genres together from funk, hip-hop, and soul. Led by vocalist/rapper Moe Betta, the band feels like a cross between The Roots and Arrested Development. Quick recently they decided to tape a live recording of their single "Outta Utero" at Soundhouse Studios in Seattle, WA and share it with the rest of us, fortunate souls. The song which dwells on growth has a vibrant soulful vibe laced with a whole lot of funky grooves and solid storytelling by Moe Betta. There is so much layering on this track from singer Momma Nikki's smooth background harmonies, anthemic horns by Tracy Winjum and Sachio Terada as DJ Geene Cervrero cut up the track as well.
The live performance of "Outta Utero" is a taste of what to come from the band as they are in the process of finishing up their EP.
