Closing out Wednesday afternoon with a hypnotic new single from rising Australian producer Laurel Laxxes and alluring UK vocalist Wren. "Come Undone" is the latest single from the pair and comes fresh from newly founded label, Mammal Sounds Records. Enticing chord progressions, matched with Wren's soft yet powerful vocal work make this one float effortlessly from the first push of play.
Based on the quality of the record, you would have thought this one was some time in the making, but Cummins shares, "the entire instrumental flowed out of me in a total of 30 minutes. It was one of those songs that came together so quickly and organically.” Wren is known for her raw vocals and atmospheric effects, her voice takes you on a journey filled with emotional honesty and a raw quality that paints a picture. “We had a quick chat about the imagery the instrumental provoked, and envisioned a European vibe of colourful coastlines, sailing boats, and love lost. We wanted to put a more positive spin on the typical “love lost” lyrical content, and instead approach it from a position of power, where you realised the person is not right for you, and you’re certain and infallible in your decision to finish the relationship. I quickly set up a mic and she improvised the entire song pretty much then and there and it was incredible,” shares the pair.
