Gill Bondy is a new indie pop duo comprised of Toronto-based musicians Hayden Stewart and Binod Singh, who are separately best known for touring & going to school with Born Ruffians, Empress Of, & Nick Hakim and for Hayden's contributions to his previous band First Rate People. Childhood friends who eventually grew apart to study & pursue individual careers in music in schools across the country, the pair first reconnected late last year after finding out they both were living in Toronto. Even after a 7 years of no contact, the two appeared to have an immediate musical connection that culminated in Singh moving into Stewart's apartment + studio in order to record new material.
EARMILK has been given the opportunity to premiere the debut single from the group, a hallucinatory composition entitled "12 Days". The track feels like the sonic equivalent of swimming in the summer time as the sun sets, while micro-dosing on LSD. A classic dream-pop ballad drenched in reverb, heavy swinged out drum patterns, and airy keyboard melody topped off by Hayden's quavering chant.
In a comment about the creation of the song, Hayden reveals:
“’12 Days’ is about the different emotional stages / anxieties one experiences trying to hold an unstable long distance relationship together.”
