It’s always a good day when DAP the Contract drops off new music. A few months have passed us by since his last release, but luckily, today is just such a day where we can blast some new DAP. Press play on his Tone assisted new track, “Sanctified” below.
Acting as the first single off of DAP’s forthcoming EP, “Sanctified” is bright and upbeat hip-hop with a dash of gospel. While the positive subject matter and feel on “Sanctified” are appreciated, it’s the song’s structure that makes it a hit. Both DAP and Tone are in top form on this one, passing the mic back and forth as they rap or sing. And while a back and forth delivery isn’t exactly novel in 2018, their chemistry as artists makes “Sanctified” noteworthy.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, “Sanctified” is yet another shining example of why DAP is going to succeed as an artist. Every time I turn around, this guy is doing something new. Whether it’s his sound (hip-hop/gospel), his delivery (back and forth) or his productions (gospel), he’s experimenting with a new direction. And even if you may not like a certain sound or approach in a given song, it doesn't matter. DAP isn’t afraid to challenge himself an artist, which is a mentality that can only lead to success.
