Hailing from Chicago, Whethan enlists New Zealand duo Broods for vocal assistance as he continues his assault on 2018 with his latest effort, "Be Like You." Fast emerging as a low-frequency prodigy, he skirts categorization. The track doesn't file neatly under any of the major EDM categories, but is unmistakably about bass production. While the track sounds great on headphones, it's a track you can really feel when you play it loud with a capable subwoofer, and it's best appreciated in that manner.
The 18yr old producer unapologetically marries his obvious love for pop music themes to an apparent obsession with bass. The vocals provide silky pop emotion and the bass provides visceral grime in a double tap on center mass. Opening the year with a collaborative EP with Louis The Child and a soundtrack effort with Dua Lipa, "High" from "Fifty Shades Freed," Whethan is just beginning to flex on 2018.
