With heavy-hitters like Skrillex, Martin Garrix and Diplo consistently blurring the lines of electronic and pop, it's become clear that, as a producer, it's no longer acceptable to be a one-trick pony. In a day and age when there are simply too many competing artists creating all kinds of wonky sounds, sometimes you need to dig deep and reinvent yourself. That's just what Copenhagen's Fabian Mazur did with his new single "If U Wanted To."

Eschewing the mammoth trap sound that put him on the map as one of the genre's rising stars last year, Mazur arrives on Lowly Palace to drop the hypnotizing future R&B ballad, which features red-hot vocalist Cameron Forbes. Forbes' sultry lyrical style does well to compliment the track's languid flow, which holds an airy mystique due to Mazur's savvy use of soulful tonal stabs. The fact that a guy who can create an absolute flamethrower of a trap tune like this and follow up with something so gorgeously subtle speaks volumes of his versatility. In an exclusive quote provided to EARMILK, Mazur shed some light on his sonic inspirations.

"I grew up on hip-hop and R&B so it has always had a very special place in my heart. Over the past few years I've been experimenting a lot with bridging a modern electronic sound with hip-hop and R&B and this is the first result of that. Actually, "If U Wanted To" was created in January last year in one of my first ever studio sessions in Los Angeles. When I played Cameron Forbes the sketch of the instrumental and he started singing some melodies on top of it I knew that we were going somewhere special!”
