Brooklyn electronic artist Chrome Sparks is back with another single, as well as news of his long-anticipated debut album.
"Still Think" is the first single to come with official news that it's tied to his upcoming album. The record will be self-titled and is due out on Counter Records on April 13th. Earlier singles "All Or Nothing" and "What's It Gonna Take", both featuring Angelica Bess on vocals, were both previously shared cuts from the record. The album will also include a collaboration with Ghostly International duo Kllo and Reptar's Graham Ulicny.
"Still Think" is predominantly an instrumental piece, with dashes of vocoder vocals that repeat the phrase "Cause I think about you all the time". Labyrinthine synth arpeggios lead to a groovy dance rhythm and a spacey, lushly textured atmosphere. The track ebbs and flows nicely, and builds to an incredible climax at 3:50 that might be the most effective and tastefully done "drop" in a while.
Building off his string of EPs and singles from his time with Australian dance label Future Classic, Chrome Sparks seems poised to deliver his fullest, most definitive statement as an artist. He also has a Spring tour with Machinedrum lined up, which any discerning electronic music fan shouldn't miss. Those dates are below.
