Singer/songwriter Alex Hepburn is no stranger to success internationally, having already achieved a platinum album in France, and gold in Switzerland with her debut record Together Alone. However, her new single "I Believe" is actually her first full release in the UK. The record is a rousing feminist anthem that draws on the strengths of her influences which include Etta James, Adele, Mary J Blige and Aretha Franklin. Incidentally Aretha's vocals were sampled on the record, and form some sort of vocal lining behind the soulful backdrop produced by Craigie Dodds and Pete Boxsta. The single showcases Alex's smooth, soul-drenched vocals and her free-spirited approach to song-writing (co-written by Chris Ballard).
“I put my heart and my soul into making my music as authentic and as true to me as possible. Unfortunately, I’ve lived through a lot of shit. I have a lot of baggage, but you have to find the positive in the situation you are in. My record and my words are always from the heart and I’m very, very proud of this record.”
The Scottish-born, London-based Alex is currently back in the studio working on her upcoming album which will be released later this year.
