Chaouche is an exciting upcoming Bristol-based musician, and it's not going unnoticed. Chaouche's last single "I" chose by Lauren Laverne to be a lucrative "Headphones Moment" on BBC Radio 6; lead to the presenter quoting that she'd "had the song on a loop all week". However, with her amazing new single "So What," it's clear these moments could easily be a recurring theme.
"So What" features all enveloping rich and reversed pianos, and beautifully deployed panned percussion. Her voice effortlessly floats. The vocals eventually settling at points amongst a stage of sacred choral delight. These moments revel in a phenomenal hymn-like way. Eloquent and forthcoming "So What" hits a fine balance of both subtle and direct that Chaouche is becoming known for.
The overarching theme of my songs is healing. Collectively my songs contribute to a greater understanding of particular issues I found overbearing and traumatising as a child and young adult. – Chaouche
"So What" was released last week on independent label Night Time Stories, and will appear on Chaouche's debut album, currently set for release in spring 2018.
