What So Not taps Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns for soaring single "Be Ok Again"

As music lovers, sometimes we just need to sling on a pair of headphones, close our eyes, and truly appreciate the complex sounds blaring through. This is one of those times.

What So Not has teamed up with legendary Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns for "Be Ok Again," a jaw-dropping future bass track that singlehandedly moves the genre forward. The production here is downright staggering. What So Not kicks off the track by filtering in an eerie piano riff before the velvety vocals arrive. Before you know it, the track progresses into a euphoric chord-driven build, but it doesn't culminate in your typical electronic drop; What So Not decides to eschew the use of a kickdrum, creating aching tension for a few bars before the true drop hits. In other words: anyone who opens up a SoundCloud link and immediately clicks the loudest part of the wavelength just to fast-forward to the drop – don't do that here.

Making "Be Ok Again" even more impressive is the fact that What So Not, who oftentimes identifies by the alias Emoh Instead, contributes vocals on one of his own tracks for the first time, mixing them in with those of Daniel Johns in perfect harmony. In a press release issued for the single, Johns, who is no stranger to dabbling in electronic music as evidenced by his April 2016 collaboration with Slumberjack, described what it was like to work alongside the brilliant Aussie beatmaker:

“Watching Emoh work is eye opening. A real professional with great vision. We worked on tracks for this album and we’re really proud of the work. I’m excited for people to hear the first taste of our collaboration, “Be Ok Again.”

What So Not is also set to embark on an upcoming international tour, which you can buy tickets to here.
