"Spirals" is the debut music video from Brooklyn-based five-man ensemble earthTone and also the first single off their upcoming project entitled 'Color Melt'. The track has that retro, nostalgic feel to it and really encapsulates the band's jazz/neo soul sensibilities. Joining them on the single is up and coming songstress Samira Gibson who delivers a beautiful vocal performance that is only rivalled by the band she's working with.
The music video which was directed by Kimberly Fox, and produced by earthTone's founder Patrick Adams, shows the band in their zone doing what they do best while soaking up the sun.
Formed in 2015, the five-piece ensemble based in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, earthTone features a melange of musical influences, ranging from old-school jazz to Chicago soul to contemporary R&B. Weaving together intricate arrangements with enthralling melodies, the band has been showcased in high-end venues all over the Tristate area, from the legendary Pianos in the Bowery to Fort Hamilton, the last active-duty army base in New York City. The band is made up of brothers Patrick and Nicki Adams (trumpet and keys, respectively), Alexander Cummings (alto and soprano saxophone), Daniel Stein (bass), and Mike Mohammed (drums). As former students at the famous Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin College, Ohio, earthTone's members have trained with more than a handful of jazz luminaries such as Billy Hart, Peter Dominguez and Jamey Haddad just to name a few.
