Icarus paves impressive release route with "Trouble"

Usually, publications will publish their “Artists to Watch” lists at the end of a year, looking forward into the next. Well, it might be July but Icarus is at the top of our running list for that title (and for this year, as they’ll surely be ubiquitous by 2018). The brotherly duo out of Bristol has had track after impressive track, showcasing their deep house chops on tracks like “Hiding” and their real power in creating a flirty mix of house and funky soul. We thought their last release, “King Kong,” was their most infectious track ever, until we heard their latest this week. “Trouble” is the perfect summer hit with a special edge that only Icarus can provide. Of course, it has the ultimate stamp of approval as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World, and after listening for ourselves, that title might not even suffice. Featuring upbeat horns and straight up disco grooves, Icarus worked with singer-songwriter Talay Riley to have him bring along his straight-to-the-heart vocals (think Chris Martin’s smoothness with a whole lot more soul).

“Trouble” is out now via Parlophone/Warner Music.
