Wyldest enter the realm of the 80s and release synth-pop gold "Hitchhiker" [Premiere]

Wyldest; the London trio – songwriter and producer Zoe Mead, multi-instrumentalist Mariin Kallikorm and Jack Gooderham on drums have premiered the title track from their Hitchhiker EP coming September 29th on Hand in Hive (pre-order here) with EARMILK. Self-produced by Mead, "Hitchhiker" is a significant departure from previous guitar-led shoegaze numbers seen on their Dark Matter EP, and shows the band entering the realm of serious electronic 80's inspired synth-pop hits. Notably the driving galactic bass and washy layers of sweeping FX set the scene for Mead’s compelling vocal performance, whilst bouncing electronic rhythms work their way towards a suitably confident pop chorus. The glossy finish, along with an emotive bridge and classic song structure, creates a track, which is one of their most kinetic and contagious outings to date.

The new track also comes with news of a headline show at London’s The Waiting Room on Wednesday 27 September and a set at Citadel Festival on Sunday 16 July.

Of the track Mead explains :

“Hitchhiker" is about the dream many of us have about 'escaping' society and rejecting materialism in favour of living alone with nothing but nature, our own thoughts and air in our lungs. The art of being happy just to exist with your own mind as entertainment; what a power that would be.”
