D-Pulse is a group who brings their culture and their personal inspirations together. Hailing from St. Petersburg, Russia, D-Pulse's music moves in style from both their hometown sound of sparse techno and their origins in minimalistic, pulsating house on their latest, "Anna."
"Anna" is lifted off D-Pulse's upcoming sophomore album Serpentine, which moves toward synth-pop a la oversight from Chet Faker's label Detail Records. Nick Murphy (previously Chet Faker) swooped up these hidden gems at 2016's Day by Night Festival in Austin, TX. He saw another facet to D-Pulse's artistry at the festival – their TUNDRA collective which organizes audiovisual installations. Combined with their vision for TUNDRA, D-Pulse's unique sound of icy guitars in tandem with synths and drum machines was enough to have Murphy sold.
He soon signed them to his label, where Serpentine is the collaborative result. The album explores a new avenue for the four piece, with vocally driven tracks that are more pop-leaning than their debut release Consequenced. If the video for "Anna" depicting a young artist enraged by her passion is any inclination of the Serpentine sound, listeners should expect anything but their pulsing club past. Serpentine arrives April 7 to confidently present the group's evolved sound. Listen to and watch the visual for "Anna" above!
