There is a rawness to Perfectly, Tragically, Flawed that makes the finished product shine. On each track, OnCue tackles a different element of his life, be it spending money frivolously on “Rent Money” or troubles with his ex on “Thirst Games.” Individually, the tracks are all well done, but together they form a picture of the artist that fits the Perfectly, Tragically, Flawed title well.
As for standouts, “Rent Money” is an easy pick. While the single, “Cry Wolf” has garnered more views, “Rent Money” better showcases OnCue’s talents as an artist. What starts out as a standard rap song with Cue spitting bars at his usual clip, transitions to a rather unique sing/rap around the 40-second mark. The transition and verse are both expertly done, giving an added sense of urgency to the artist's voice.
No news on any other projects in the works, but after listening to Perfectly, Tragically, Flawed, it’s clear OnCue is someone to watch. And with a co-sign from a producer like Just Blaze, you can bet some big things are in the works for this Brooklyn MC.
