Madison, Wisconson-based engelwood has a sound that plainly, is a sign of the future of electronic music. He’s been making laid back, jazz-infused electronica with a side of groove for two years now, and has somehow continued flying under the radar. He’s released a few albums in that time, too, including 2016’s popular Pastel Beach and his Christmas Special EP. Now, he’s gearing up for the release of his next album, Hotel Wood, that will be releasing next week. Following “Childhood” released a few months ago, this week, engelwood has given us another quick taste of what we can expect on Hotel Wood. The track, “been missing you,” is everything beautiful about what the right person can do with electronic music. Soothing, groovy, melodically interesting and out of the box, engelwood’s inspirations translate perfectly into a track that shouldn’t be missed.
