“Anita” is defining the next wave of hip hop, and Smino is who’s leading the charge. The Chicago MC proves why he is one of the most fun and exciting rappers in the game right now with his latest track, and as always, he does not disappoint.

From the smooth jazz beat from constant collab and fellow Zero Fatigue Crew member Monte Booker to the wacky wordplay, “Anita” is a hit. What’s more, this is a great song to snack on before Smino’s major album debut Blkswn drops later this year.
“Anita” is a song about a girl. Nothing new with respect to the subject, but it’s the delivery that sets Smino apart. He is very true to himself, a quality that is a huge asset in 2017 with so many other artists popping up everywhere. Even the lyrics featured on his SoundCloud page for “Anita” are very Smino-esque. His wordplay is zany, his flow is constantly in flux, and through it all, you can tell he’s enjoying himself.
With a song like “Anita,” I hesitate to dive too deep with analysis. Some songs are best left far away from a microscope, where you can simply turn up the volume and let the creativity take you away.
Enjoy.
