Ever since the release of Dark Sky Paradise, Big Sean has ventured to great lengths to reinvent himself. Dark Sky Paradise was the most unique release of career, noted for his brooding lyricism and production highlighted by DJ Mustard and Mike WiLL Made-It among others. 2016 gave us Twenty88, his collaborative R&B-heavy album with Jhené Aiko, another album which was warmly received. By the end of the year, however, is when he started making strides and reclaiming his spot in the rap sphere. He surprised us all with "Moves" and "Bounce Back," which has reached as high as 16 on Billboard's Hot 100. Now, in anticipation of his forthcoming album I Decided., Sean Don has returned with "Halfway Off the Balcony."
Moving away from the bouncy production of his previous singles, "Halfway Off the Balcony" is the most introspective of the trio, with Sean contemplating everything in his life from his own superficiality to his relationships with the women in his life. In the hook, he croons, "I'm hangin' halfway off the balcony / Overthinkin' 'cause my job is way more than a salary." The production provided by Key Wane loops a quiet but droning guitar over a slow but strong bassline. I Decided. is set to release on February 4th.
