Do we have a treat for you guys today! Surveying the dance music landscape, it's pretty clear that bass house is the current "genre du jour" for many EDM artists, with many former big-room house acts making the switch to producing filthy, low-down house bangers. Today, we have the premiere of recently formed super duo Paper Planes, the new house-centric side project from Simon James (one half of dubstep/drum 'n bass group Delta Heavy) and Gavin Harris (one half of drum 'n bass duo, Loadstar). The duo waste no time right out the gate, dropping a two track debut "Watch It Bounce" and "Wavey," and EARMILK has the premiere for your listening pleasure.
Lead single "Watch It Bounce" is certainly the more bass-heavy production, with a super-low filtered bassline churning over the traditional 4/4 house rhythm and a vocal sample that demands you "watch it bounce." But make no mistake, "Wavey" is an equally powerful dancefloor track, as it seems to borrow digitized 303-ish drum machine samples, giving it an almost acid/tech house feel. Whichever track is your preference, both make it clear that this side project is going to be a real force in the underground dance scene.
Both tracks will be available on December 9th, out on NEST/OWSLA records.
