You all know we are big fans of Tom Misch. From his originals, his vocals, his collaborations, to his remixes and reworks, I religiously follow and post about him. It's been a while since we last heard from him as he follows up his Reverie EP with a slowed down, fuzzy edit of Four Tops called "Remember".
Don't be fooled by the static beginning, as the American vocal quartet from Detroit opens the track. Just as they defined the sound of Motown, Tom seems to be loosely shooting to influence some genre of music…or two. We follow the sample for 25 seconds or so, then Tom drops the track into his authentic rhythm, picking up the pace and adding a bass line and guitar riff. Misch's ability to spin any type of music into something new is impressive, simply because whatever the sample or inspiration might be, you can always sit on your porch on Sunday mornings with a cup of joe to bask in his work's soothing nature.
In Tom's description, he says,
"Haven't uploaded anything in a while… I've been working hard on my album and [have started] playing shows… but I'm always gunna make beats."
I approve. Take a listen to "Remember" below.
