It's so often that we see festival anthems released by names that are already overgrown in dance music. So much so, they might be considered pop stars (ahem, Kygo's 2015 Ultra Music Festival anthem, "ID,"). But this year, New York City's annual Electric Zoo festival has enlisted a more up and coming name to speak for the city's dance fans in terms of its festival anthem for 2016. Recruited is 20 year old college student, producer and DJ CODEKO to create the soundtrack to Labor Day weekend, through a single entitled "Walking With Lions." Because really, we go to festivals to see our favorite artists perform, but leave having discovering new favorites along the way.
The song speaks to the festival's "Wild Island" theme, and addresses dance music's current state through catchy pop crossover-worthy vocals from Raphaella, and a sound that falls somewhere in between future bass, electronica and house. In partnership with Armada Music, the track is streaming via SoundCloud.
