"Grown Up Calls" is a regular jam in my circle, one that never seems to leave, sticking to the top of most playlists as if it were there by default. Toro y Moi can attribute a lot of success to the track and the album Anything in Return. Perhaps this new, live, alternate version from the Mojave is a step in an even better direction.

Live From Trona includes a special concert in the middle of the Mojave Desert in April 2016, of which we first hear the new "Grown Up Calls" now available to bask in on Soundcloud. The album features unique live arrangements of songs from across the band’s catalog, new music, and an expanded band line-up, all from what they call a live set "recorded live beneath the geological wonders known as the Trona Pinnacles."
The new one resembles more of a jazz track, winding in and out with coffee house bongos and an ending guitar riff to play out the psychedelic side. It's much less structured, much more hollow, and in my opinion, much better. I guess defaults can be replaced.
