Skepta took his career to new heights with the release of two grimey street anthems, "It Ain't Safe" and "Shutdown." He further cemented his status and worldwide acclaim with the release of his critically beloved studio album, Konnichiwa; an album filled with gritty tales of club fights, crime, and crew toasting. Any reasonable fan would assume that the British MC would continue his streak of rugged rhymes and rave-destroying tracks; however, Skepta is an unpredictable star who refuses to be placed in any box.
Skepta's latest track, "Coming Soon," is an incredible departure from his previous two-year-long musical campaign. Gone are the dark alley tunes with brash choruses, now replaced with summery vibes and a bubbly hook. "Coming Soon" feels like a track mainly produced to create good vibes in the listener, which it succeeds in doing; although, the song and atmosphere are sure to turn off a lot of Skepta's most ardent fans.
Céon and iLoveMakonnen are both featured on the track. Strangely, there are some portions of the track where you may have trouble discerning who is currently singing / melodically rapping. Fortunately, all of the the artists deliver in the vocal department. Check out Skepta's "Coming Soon" above.
