It just seems like yesterday that we first caught wind of KC Lights, and were immediately blown away. His remix of Pharrell's "Happy" came at a time when the track was already over played in the mainstream world, and remixed to death virally. But, KC Lights reinvigorated "Happy" in so many ways that we fell in love (again) with the original through his even more fun-loving re-envisioning of the 2014 summer hit.
We weren't the only ones to catch "Happy," and quickly KC Lights has become a talent to watch. Producer, DJ and jazz musician, he's taken the music he grew up on and formed it into a unique style that's easy to fall in love with. And now, he has multiple Annie Mac-approved original singles.
Out this week via another BBC Radio 1 tastemaker, Danny Howard's, label Nothing Else Matters, "Temptation" shows us that KC Lights has picked up a few tricks since his SoundCloud debut two years ago. Following the release of "No No No," Temptation" shows KC Lights's mature understanding of music despite being only 25. With so many artists fighting for the spotlight in the new wave of house and electro soul movements, KC Lights's "Temptation" sets itself apart with of course, a unique jazz influence.
Stream "Temptation" here exclusively ahead of its release this Friday.
