British production and DJ duo Toyboy & Robin have been up to a lot since their debut EP release with Big Beat Records nearly 10 months ago. The group champions a heavilyy London-inspired style, with an uplifting take on the underground house movement that lately has been on just about every dance music artist's radar.
Their latest track, "Borrowed," was released earlier in 2016. Featuring Jamaican reggae singer Gyptia – who you might remember from his 2010 Top 40 hit "Hold Yuh," – and L Marshall on additional vocals, the original is a unique expression of Island music through UK electronic eyes. Now the track is up for a full remix EP, which is where fellow DJ and producer Kideko has been called upon to make his magic.
"We've been big fans of Kideko for a while so it made sense to get him on the remix for this. He's absolutely smashed it with a really fresh take on the record, and with his new recordCrank It smashing the club circuit 2016 will be massive for him!
The Brighton-based producer has taken "Borrowed" from drum and bass-inspired UK pop to true underground house gem. Staying true to his roots, Kideko has brought "Borrowed" to the land of garage and chord-driven underground house. Out April 8th via Big Beat Records, the remix was premiered last week by tastemaker Pete Tong on his highly sought after BBC Radio 1 show, and is streaming below ahead of its release.
