Techno twosome GAIST delivered their latest musical gifts yesterday, dropping new EP Trigger on District 9 Recordings. Their previous pristine productions have bagged regular spots in the sets of seminal DJs Richie Hawtin and Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke.
Determined to build on their reputation, the upcoming duo shows off their studio room talent on this EP, with two intricate and pulsing tracks, clocking in at just over eight minutes each. Title-track ‘Trigger’ releases the drums to bounce around right off the bat and is sure to please techno purists, while ‘Division’ is a spookier trip, with deeper grooves and a dingy warehouse feel. Both tunes from Trigger are a promising indication of things to come.
