The Soft Moon streams 'Deeper Remixed'

Listening to The Soft Moon, the solo project of producer Luis Vasquez, is akin to traveling down vacant causeways in the depths of night. It’s the perilousness of driving through spaces only half seen, and the demented resolve of exploring them anyways. With caustic synths and a frenetic pace, Vasquez weaves soundscapes of clanging industry that echo against the darkness.

Two months ago, Vasquez revealed a Phase Fatale remix of “Desertion,” a single from his 2015 record, Deeper. The track was to preface Deeper Remixed Vol. 1 & 2, the two-part remix EP that reimagines track from the original album. The project also includes remixes from Ancient Methods, Blush, Codex, Trentemøller, Dave Clarke and others. Vasquez had this to say about Deeper Remixed:

“Before these remixes came together, I thought it was weird to see all these bands having their music remixed. I still consider writing music something very personal, something that I do for myself. But, in the last few years, since I started being on the road so much, I realized that I love the connection I have with people that buy The Soft Moon records and come to the shows. The idea of ‘Deeper Remixed’ started when two great artists such Trentemøller and Dave Clarke wrote me to ask to remix some of The Soft Moon songs. I felt very flattered by that and I guess it helped me to change my mind re the meaning of a remix.  Every artist that contributed a remix are artists that I respect, artists that shared the stage with The Soft Moon, and some who I would even consider good friends”.

You can stream Deeper Remixed Vol. 1 below, and Vol. 2 is currently streaming over at Thump. Both were co-released by Captured Tracks and Berlin label aufnahme + wiedergabe.
