Anenon is Brian Allen Simon: a producer, saxophonist and record label owner (NonProjects) based in LA. In January, the multifaceted musician was invited to participate in the yearlong Monument series as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, an exhibition that pairs visual art with sound. Simon curated a piece and performed with violinist Yvette Holzwarth, guitarist Sam Gendel, and drummer Jon-Kyle Mohr.
Simon and Mohr have teamed up once again for the latest Anenon single, “Once.” The new track follows “Mouth” and prefaces a third Anenon LP, Petrol – out March 4. “Mouth” is intergalactic, a stunning plexus of otherworldly synthwork; with “Once,” Anenon travels a couple of parsecs back toward earth.

The new track opens with the familiar patter of drums. Mohr skitters atop the cymbals as Simon’s ambient pads grow steadily beneath, merging and intersecting in waves throughout the piece. “Once” marries breakneck physicality with ethereal electronics – not an easy task, and it's yet another harbinger of Petrol’s impending greatness.
