LA-based songwriter/producer Gabriel Brenner, who creates under the name PASTEL, is an absolute gem within Los Angeles' music-making community. The full time art student has been crafting a distinct kind of abstract R&B since the summer of 2013, a sound that resides in the same murky vein as his cited influences: Grouper, FKA Twigs, Arca, and Julianna Barwick. PASTEL manages to stand out due to his sheer technical aptness in crafting immersive ambient soundscapes that fully compliment the singer's soothing tones & harmonies.

PASTEL has been on a bit of an hiatus since the release of his It Will Be Missed EP last year, but the singer has returned with a new single off of his upcoming Bone-Weary EP entitled "I Ache". The visual for the single was directed by photgrapher Hobbes Ginsberg and was edited by Chloe Feller for Red Lighter Films. As a visual reference, Hobbes and Gabriel drew inspiration from the traditional portraiture of women, in order to "explore one’s emotional endurance when everything around falls apart".
