Letherette share "Rayon," first new music since 2013

UK-based duo Letherette are dropping new music for the first time since releasing their eponymous debut record in 2013. Refresh, to be the outfit’s sixth EP, will arrive on February 6 via Ninja Tune. Letherette shared the first of the EP’s four tracks, “Rayon,” this morning via Soundcloud.

Rayon is a cellulose fiber whose versatility allows it to imitate silk, wool, cotton or linen. It’s soft, smooth, cool and comfortable, and much like the material, “Rayon” fits like a glove. The track opens with the kind of bone-rattling bass that’s known to shake clubs. Big, fibrous chords of Hammond-like warmth, sewn seamlessly between vocal samples, soon join the bump, propelling "Rayon" from clarity to subaqueous muddle before finally emerging in its final form: a soulful groove that’s fashionable in all seasons.
