LA’s Overjoy is a duo whose music has “that certain something,” but we can’t put our finger on it. The trio has debuted that talent on their first ever EP release, Breakfast, showcasing such musical awareness, out today via the iconic house outlet Sweat It Out music. Made up of singer Lex Famous and producers Métty and Hoff, Overjoy is officially a triple threat, making music that has a special synergy to it. By incorporating vocals of their own and all sorts of style into their music – house, pop, synth and world music – they’ve proven so far that they’re able to make their music extra attractive from its high level of intangible nostalgia.
Breakfast is comprised of two tracks – each with their own personality but both giving us an idea of what we can expect from Overjoy moving forward. “Love For Breakfast” is a catchy, understated nu disco tune with an attractive bassline supporting Famous’ chill, retro R&B vocals. “Airport Song” has a bit more melancholy to it, a slower tempo but just as an infectious sultry vocal.
Overjoy has joined us to celebrate the release of Breakfast with a mixtape. Check it out via our Soundcloud page.
