Whether you know him as a member of Army of the Pharaohs, The Demigodz, or from his solo career, Apathy has always been that dude. What I like most about the Connecticut Casual emcee is that he's always about his business and doesn't have to rely on drama to keep his status up. With the upcoming release of his next project, Handshakes with Snakes, Ap has stepped back into the booth to give us a taste of what's to come. Building upon the popular Q-Tip quotable, the aptly titled "Rap Is Not Pop" has the Connecticut rhymer calling out the current state of the genre. But unlike other rappers who ride the "we're bringing the 90's back" wave, he isn't about that life. In fact, Apathy will probably be the first one to point out that he's not "an old head stuck in his old ways." Lyrically, the guy can't be touched; his fluid rhyme scheme is straight butter and pairs well with the self-produced beat.
