As a fan of an artist’s music, there is no greater joy than watching that artist channel the potential you saw and continue to reach new heights. This has been my experience with South London’s remarkable rising star: HUNTAR.
HUNTAR has cultivated a sophisticatedly sensual electronic-pop sound that I simply can’t get enough of (for fans of James Blake, HONNE, Ben Khan, and Shlohmo). About a week ago, he dropped his passionately-labored Love I Know EP (Listen to title track here), and I haven’t been able to stop burying myself in “The Woods.” As the first track, HUNTAR symbolically begins with the antiquated sounds of a radio tuning into his previous songs, and then envelops us in his signature sultry crooning and sentient synths. This is his most monumental song yet. Who knows what splendor he’ll bare another year from now?
