With less than two weeks to go, another track from Kendrick Lamar’s highly-anticipated album, To Pimp A Butterfly, has surfaced: “King Kunta.”
“I got a bone to pick…” begins Lamar, as the funky bassline hits and background female vocals cheer on. “Bitch where you when I was walkin’? / Now I run the game got the whole world talkin’ / King Kunta” goes the hook. Lamar continues to spit lyrical fire, this time, giving a nod to Kunta Kinte (central figure in Roots): “Everybody wanna cut the legs off him, Kunta / Black man taking no losses. The album is expected to be a funkadelic-influenced, racially-charged masterpiece.
