Rostrum Records is one of those amazing labels that's regularly churning out great hip hop releases, and today, they are continuing their streak with Mod Sun, a Minnesota native, who's bringing positivity on top of slick rhymes to create Look Up, his latest masterpiece.
The label boasts names such as Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa, and his style is reminiscent of the two artists, even when their fan-base might be world's different. Look Up doesn't focus on scantily clad women and late night drugs; instead it focuses on meshing his hippy style and worldly knowledge with modern day production and laidback rhymes. He manages to manifest California cool vibes with Minnesota charm, and really, the young artist screams hipster cool with total ease. Positivity in today's rap may feel foreign, but with Mod Sun, it also feels welcoming.
