Gabe Lehner adopted the moniker 9 Theory for his constant obsession with making music. After more than a decade and a half time's worth of dabbling music, 9 theory was born to act as his vessel for his solo adventure. His passion has landed him gigs at Coachella and Electric Forest, as well as opening for artists such as Bonobo and Thievery Corporation.
He loves to blend genres together to form a mix of electronic style sprinkled with hip-hop and indie rock as you can hear when you browse through his work. You'll also notice there is a generous helping of collaborations, which isn't much of a surprise. His beats lend themselves for nice collaboration projects and remixes as well. Today, we give you an original single called "Dreams" which will be part of an upcoming compilation by Autonomous.
This particular track is light on the ears. In fact, it flirts with the boundaries of ambient droning in the opening minute of the song. A simple piano brings us gently into the main event as Gabe's vocals sings to us in a lullaby-esque fashion. "Dreams" does get a bit chaotic towards the middle, but it all plateaus into a pleasant piano intermission. It follows this rollercoaster recipe to the closing seconds as his vocals helps us close our eyes and fade into the air. Be sure to check out his debut album Against The Odds Of Entropy, which dropped back in December.
