A couple weeks ago, I walked into a small show with artists I was unfamiliar with—and thank god, I did. This is how I discovered Harriet Brown. I was surprised by how uniquely attractive his music was, and impressed by the amazing heart and energy evoked during his performance (which included rad electric-guitar solos). The LA-based, singer-songwriter describes his music as “a sound in which the past becomes the future,” and dubs it as a “new kind of romantic funk.”
His newest single with dream-pop artist, Astronauts, etc, “Fiction,” is co-produced by the beloved Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi aka Les Sins), and came out on Bundick's own Company Records. The deeply chilled and wonderfully fluid melody paired with Brown’s eclectic, saucy vocals come together ever so rightly. If you're craving more, go visit Brown's debut New Era EP, released last fall. Keep an eye out for this imminent star!
