Short and sweet new single "ppiate" by aywy. caught my attention this morning on the subway ride to work. Ambient sounds and funky synths from the get go had me hooked, but at about 1:11 the producer completely catches me off guard. Sampling none other than Biggie Smalls classic "Suicidal Thoughts," aywy. hits this track out of the ball park. This is the kind of hip-hop remixes I want to see, not tropical house remixes that are running ablaze on the internets, but the good stuff like this. Snippets of hip-hop classics and short samplings done here properly and respectfully, that's what we need more of. Looks like this is a demo from an upcoming release entitled Persona slated for release 30.06.15. I'm intrigued, stay tuned.
