Yesterday morning, I sat in a cafe with a much needed Americano to alleviate my winter blues. Luckily, I happened to listen to argonaut&wasp's "Higher Ground", a track which did an even better job of waking me up than the caffeine.
Hailing from Burlington, Vermont, argonaut&wasp is Theo Klein and Trey Schibli. The duo's music effortlessly draws from multiple genres, and has accurately been described as "MGMT's psychedelic pop meeting Kaytranada's R&B infused deep house with a little dose of funk for good measure".
After the success of last summer's "Pistol Pump Funk", argonaut&wasp have been fairly quiet, preparing their debut EP Future Protocol, available February 20th. This week, they shared "Higher Ground", the first song off that release. The track is an exciting medley of sounds and influences with an unforgettable chorus. Turn this one up loud.
