Australian x Los Angeles Electro-pop trio Contra is a refreshing full piece band with their own interpretation of dance hall anthems and deep house vibes. Their latest single “1992” is a fun and catchy beat that will have you agreeing with the hook, “I like it.” This single is their first release off their forthcoming EP The 90s Are All That, which is tentatively set for release in early spring 2015. The band describes their sound as if, “Disclosure built a time machine, went back and produced all of the So So Def Bass All Stars Compilations.” This explanation is spot on as bouncy bass melodies and dubbed percussions beds swirl together to make a 90’s tinged tapestry of feel good bass music. The music video for this single is a fun flashback to the past while rooted in the technicolored futuristic fashion of today. Get lost in this beat as we all nod in agreeance that Contra is a blast from the past we can get down to.
