Over the course of 2014, Galantis have soared to the top of the dance music scene, quickly become favorites in a industry marked by fierce competition and cutthroat criticism. However, the whirlwind duo had something working in their favor: a veteran attitude from the practiced hands of Linus Eklöw, better known as Style of Eye, and Miike Snow's Christian Karlsson. After the release of their self-titled debut EP in April, fans received a steady stream of remixes of the self-proclaimed Seafox captains, including remakes by Tiësto, Brillz, and Elephante, but a new original had not been heard of. That is until last month, when "Runaway (U & I)" dropped as a searing proclamation that the dynamic duo certainly has more up their sleeve.
Already having amassed close to two million plays and a remix by the legendary Kaskade, the explosive dance track now finds itself on the transformative decks of Lash. Calling the Dominican Republic their home, Omar Andino & Kelvin Beat have made it their mission to bring dance music prestige to the island nation. So far it's been a successful adventure, as the pair blew past 500,000 plays on Soundcloud in just a few months from high-profile reworks of Clean Bandit, Faul & Wad Ad vs. Pnau, The Chainsmokers and Cazzette. Add to that their "U & I" remix, which takes the energetic and emotive anthem in an all-new, deeper direction. Instead of bold builds and bassy drops, the pair opt for a refined house approach, keeping the track in check with hollow synth melodies, muted brassy mids, and masterful reworking of the song's unforgettable lyrics.
Lash continue to make a name for themselves with this take on "U & I", which you can grab as a free download via their Soundcloud.
