Hot off releasing her single "Bassically", which shot straight to #1 on The Hype Machine, Brooklyn-via-Colombia-via-Vancouver singer Tei Shi is back and relatively subdued with "See Me".
To understand her newest offering (out now via Mermaid Avenue (US), Double Denim (UK, Europe & Japan) and Caroline (Australia, New Zealand), think of a mix between Lykke Li's melodic vocals laced with driving, guitar-heavy rhythm and layered electronic textures. It's a bit of a glorious mish-mash, thematically touching on feelings of conflict, vulnerability, and the search for approval.
Co-produced by long-term collaborator Luca Buccellati of Yellerkin and Dave Bayley of Glass Animals, Tei Shi's "See Me" is truly exemplary of how excited we should be about her career.
If you'd like to catch her live, she'll be in Washington, DC with GEMS on Nov 13, Brooklyn, NY with Yumi Zouma on Nov 15, Toronto with Seoul on Nov 17, and at M for Montreal in Montreal on Nov 19.
